Description/Abstract of your Event:
More and more causes use the internet to promote advocacy goals, but despite its apparent value, "clicktivism" is still a far cry from on-the-ground direct action. How can we finally create a fluid system to bridge the massive potential of online organizing with the effectiveness of concrete real-world actions? In this panel, we will look at a few of the strategies that have shown the most promise, and consider how they can be scaled up to help create the reform and revolution we need. The Yes Men have just released the Action Switchboard, an online organizing platform which utilizes a combination of these strategies to build an on-ramp for new activists and generate real on-the-ground results. We will share our lessons from implementing these strategies with the Action Switchboard, and engage in a discussion about other ways to generate even more real-world action.
