Biography: 

Jenny Brown helped organize the defeat of a special legislative session to restrict abortion in Florida in 1989 and has since organized innumerable consciousness-raising meetings, classes, speakouts, and campaigns around reproductive rights. She was a leader in the grassroots campaign to win morning-after pill contraception over-the-counter in the United States, and a plaintiff in the winning lawsuit. She is author of Birth Strike: The Hidden Fight Over Women’s Work and Without Apology: The Abortion Struggle Now forthcoming from Jacobin/Verso. She writes, teaches, and organizes with the dues-funded feminist group National Women’s Liberation (womensliberation.org).

Jenny Brown is a women's liberation organizer an dformer editor of Labor Notes. She is coauthor of the Redstockings book Women's Liberation and Natioal Health Care: Confronting the Myth of America. For ten years she co-chaired the Alachua County Labor Party, organizing for national health insurance, the right to a job at a living wage, free higher education and a working person's political party. She is also author of How to Jump-Start Your Union: Lessons from the Chicago Teachers (2014) and Birth Strike: The Hidden Fight over Women's Work (2019).
