Jill Stein is an organizer, physician and environmental health advocate. As the Green Party presidential candidate in 2012 and 2016, she was the first and only presidential candidate to call for an emergency Green New Deal to jointly solve the climate and economic crises, for free public higher education, a student debt bailout, and demilitarization through a foreign policy based on international law, diplomacy and human rights. She was also the only presidential candidate supporting the Dakota Sioux nation in resisting the DAPL pipeline. Following the 2016 election, she launched a recount initiative that exposed voter suppression in communities of color, and won a settlement with Pennsylvania to replace electronic voting machines with paper ballots and robust audits, raising the national bar for election integrity. In 2014, she helped launch the Global Climate Strike to support workers, youth, immigrant, Indigenous, climate and other activists in collective civil disobedience, boycotts and creative community alternatives, building towards a general strike to bring the engines of economic, ecological and military destruction to a grinding halt, and replace them with community-based solutions that put people, planet and peace over profit. In 2006, she transitioned from clinical medicine into “political medicine” to challenge "the mother of all illnesses”, our sick political system, so we can begin to fix the other things that are literally killing us. twitter, facebook - @drjillstein
